Are you in Sales?

Everyone's A Salesperson
By Brian Tracy

I often ask my seminar attendees, "How many people here are in sales?" It's interesting to watch how people respond to that question. There are always a few people who will raise a hand at first, and then another hand goes up, and then another, and soon perhaps half the people in the room have a hand up, even though they may be in fields such as management, administration, finance and accounting.

I then smile and ask again, "Now, how many people here are really in sales?" At this point, virtually every person in the room has raised a hand. We all smile at the realization that each of us is in the business of selling every single day.

From the time you get up in the morning until the time you go to bed at night, you are negotiating, communicating, persuading, and influencing -- trying to get people to cooperate with you to accomplish the things that you want them to accomplish. So the pivotal question with regard to selling is not if you are doing it, but if you are good at it.

All top executives are excellent salespeople. All effective parents are wonderful salespeople. All effective employees use sales techniques to get their coworkers and bosses to go along with them and to cooperate with them in getting the job done. Everyone who is effective in virtually any area of life that involves other people is an excellent salesperson of some kind.

Unfortunately, over the years, a stigma has grown up around the selling profession. Many people feel that selling is a low-level type of activity and they don't like to be associated with it -- even people who are in sales! Virtually no colleges or universities have a "Department of Selling," even though almost 15 million Americans make their living by selling something to someone. It is the largest single, identifiable occupational group in the United States.

Salespeople are the movers and shakers in every business and industry. They are the key people who create the demand for all the products and services that keep everyone employed at every other occupation.

The wonderful thing about selling is that it is a learned skill. No matter what level of selling ability you possess today, by continued practice, you can become better and more persuasive.

And the more effective you are at selling, the more successful you will be in every area of your life.

Which bail-out program would you rather bet your mortgage on? Ours or theirs?

The Kick-off to the Pre-Paid Legal North American Bailout tours begins this weekend, February 7, 2009. Through the marketing of our membership, we are making available our own version of an economic stimulus package to anyone interested and willing to work for it.

But what is most interesting about our kick-off event is that the Obama administration has requested volunteers to hold house meetings all across America on the very same day. The goal being to raise awareness and push for passage of the US Government’s bailout plan.

While the similarities of the meetings themselves are strikingly similar, the anticipated results for the individuals participating are that much more contradictory.

This is perfect timing, the government is asking citizens to host meetings to increase awareness of the government bailout plan. While Pre-Paid Legal Services is having its own meeting offering those same citizens its own bailout plan.

On the same weekend that we are rolling out our bail-out program to the people, the US government is lobbying for passage of its own bail-out. The main difference being is that our bail-out has passed the congress so to speak, it is in practice, it is available now! While the government bailout is struggling to gain the needed support to even begin to be implemented.

Which bail-out program would you rather bet your mortgage on? Ours or theirs?

Do you believe?

Believe and Succeed

You will agree, I am sure, that all thinking people have a sincere desire to succeed.

You want to win; I want to win. No one sets out to deliberately destroy themselves - although I must admit, at times it certainly appears as if some people do.

If everyone wants to win - why don't they? There are probably many answers to that question. After talking with hundreds of people who do not seem to be able to make it happen, I have come to the conclusion that the answer to success is locked up in a seven letter word - "Believe."

Losers do not believe they can win. Why don't they believe? I think there is an answer to that question and I'll get to it in a moment. If you are having difficulty making something big happen in your life, read closely.

All the great religious leaders, philosophers and self-help gurus have told us to believe and succeed. "All things are possible for those who believe."

William James said, "Believe and your belief will create the fact."

I have found that our belief system is based on our evaluation of something. Frequently when we re-evaluate a situation our belief about that situation will change.

Half of my life was wasted. I never even tried to accomplish anything of any importance because I did not believe in myself. The truth was I knew very little about me. Many years ago I was encouraged to begin studying myself, re-evaluate myself. I began to gain an understanding of my marvelous mind. Everyday I learned a little more and I suddenly began to believe in myself.

Re-evaluate yourself. There is a sleeping giant in you. Release it.

Believe in yourself.

Bob Proctor

What is the solution?

"The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by obvious realities. We need men and women who can dream of things that never were..." + John F. Kennedy
